The Muir Tribune, Friday, December 21, 1894
Last Friday, Mrs. D. C. Smith received a telegram from Newport, which conveyed 
the sad intelligence that her aged mother was seriously ill.  She answered the 
dispatch in person the next day, her son, Fred accompanying her.  

Later:  Her mother, Mrs. H. E. Southworth died Monday afternoon, aged 84 
years, and was buried at Flat Rock, Monroe County, yesterday.
