Henry Sowers, Passed Away Sunday. William Henry Sowers, 69, passed away at Belding Hospital Sunday evening. He was born September 2, 1887 in Howard County, Nebraska, the son of the late Rufus and Mary Sowers. He came to Belding at the age of nine where he has lived since. On June 28, 1916 he was married to Francis Devault of Twining, Michigan. He had lived at his present address, 321 W. Isabelle street for the past twenty years. Mr. Sowers had his own draying and hauling business for twenty seven years, from which he retired in 1943. He had been working for the Gibson Refrigerator Co., for the last few years. Surviving are his wife, Frances, three daughters, Mrs. Eli Huyck of Kalamazoo, Mrs. George Overmyer and Mrs. Edward Phenix, six sons, William R., Daniel B., Roy E., Chester J., and Sylvester B., all of Belding, and private Richard C. of Ft. Knox, Ky., and 23 grandchildren, also four sisters, Mrs. Edward Thompson of Lowell, Mrs. Asa Brooks of Fenwick, Mrs. Clarence Brooks of Belding, Mrs. Rufus Weiser of Vermontville, two brothers, Glen Sowers of Lowell, and Ellsworth Sowers of Belding. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Fitzjohn Funeral home, Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating, with burial in Otisco Cemetery.
