Long Illness Takes Life of Bert W. Sowles

Bert W. Sowles, 76, of 536 Earl St., passed away Monday morning at Eckert
Convalescent Home in Ionia.  A retired farmer, he had lived in this area for 38
years.  At one time he had lived in Detroit.

He was born April 12, 1880 at Portland the son of Harvey and Myra Sowles and was
married to Hilah Yourie, in Ionia, October 31, 1901.

Surviving are his wife, Hilah, and three daughters, Mrs. John (Myrtle) Trudgen,
Mrs. Lawrence (Dorothy) Havens and Mrs. Robert (Janet) Munday all of this city,
10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o’clock at Huffman Funeral Home with
Rev. Frank Gillett officiating and the burial was in River Ridge cemetery.
