Sowles Vern C.Sowles, 65, 909 Alderman Street, passed away Monday, May 10 at Greenville Hospital after a long illness. The son of Harvey and Myra Sowles he was born in Portland, Michigan August 8, 1888. He married Agnes Benninghof of Toledo, Ohio December 6, 1908 and they lived in Detroit until 1920 when they came to this city to live. Mr.Sowles was a foreman at Belding-Hall Manufacturing Co. and later a foreman at Gibson's with 25 years of service. He was a member of Belding Lodge No.355, F&AM and of Belding sportsman's Club He is survived by two brothers, Bert of this city and Floyd of Stanton and several nieces and nephews. His niece, mrs.Don Tuthill, cared for him in his home during his seven months illness. His funeral service will be held at Huffman funeral Chapel Thursday, May 13, at 2 o'clock with Rev. H.S.Ellis officiating and the burial with graveside services in charge of Belding Lodge, will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Rummel, Cris Clem, William Graham, Clark Palmer, J.Byron Cook and Edwy Webster.
