The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 10, 1954

Mrs. Marie Spaans, 77, died early Sunday morning, May 9, at the home of her 
son, Peter Spaans, 119 Arnold street, South Ionia.  She was born in the 
Netherlands and came to the United States in 1905.  Her husband, John, 
preceded her in death November 29, 1952.  

Surviving besides her son, Peter, are four grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir, Tuesday 
at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. Court O. Adams officiating.  Burial will be at 
Muir cemetery.
