Burial will be in Muir cemetery. The Rev. Roger Stressman of the Zion Evangelical U.B. church, Ionia, will officiate. Spaans died Saturday morning, November 29 at his home. He was born in the Netherlands May 31, 1878. He owned a bakery located at 216 West Main Street, Ionia, for about eight years. He also operated a farm on a Muir rural route many years ago. Selling his Ionia bakery about twelve years ago, he went to Reed City where he owned another bakery until his retirement approximately five years ago. Spaans was a member of the Masonic order in Lyons. Surviving him are his wife, Marie, at home, a son, Peter, of Largo, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. N. Weber of Newburgh, N.Y.; and two brothers, Peter of Muskegon and Charles of West Des Moines, Iowa.
