Ionia Sentinel Standard, 24 Feb 1984

Ralph W. Spangler, Sr., 70, of 11609 East 17 Mile Road, Marion, died Thursday 
in Cadillac Mercy Hospital after a long illness.  He was born Feb. 14, 1914, in 
Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Frank and Irene Spangler.  He married Doris 
Bennett in August, 1949.  He was a retired materials control supervisor from AC 
Sparkplug in Flint, where they made their home before moving to Marion in 1963.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Ralph Jr. of Marion; one brother, Edward, 
of Zanesville, Ohio; and one sister, Dorthea Spangler, also of Zanesville.  One 
son preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, 
with the Rev. Clare Thompson of the Marion First Baptist Church officiating.  
Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
