Saranac Advertiser – Thursday, 23 May 1907
Mrs. Robert Sparks who went to Ann Arbor a week ago Monday for treatment died 
at the University hospital on Sunday.  It developed that her affliction was a 
tumor of the brain.  It was while being treated for this that she commenced to 
have sinking spells and she never rallied and passed away a few hours later.

Her remains were brought home Monday afternoon accompanied by her husband who 
had been with her at Ann Arbor.   (unreadable) friends and members of the L. 
O. T. M. M. at the depot to meet Mr. Sparks, and with words of sympathy and 
offers of assistance they made the sad home coming as easy as possible both 
for him and the son and her parents and relatives.

After a busy and useful life she died as she lived, honored, trusted and 
loved.  She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who 
knew her.  She will be sadly missed not only in the home but in the 
community.  The funeral was held from the home Wednesday afternoon, conducted 
by Rev. A. B. Johnson.
