Lyons Herald, 22 Jul 1904

Dr. David C. Spaulding, who died Thursday evening, at the age of 70, came to 
Lyons in 1858.  He served as surgeon of the 10th Mich. cavalry, to close of war, 
and was at one time surgeon of the Michigan Soldiers’ Home at Grand Rapids, for a 
term of two years.  He was quite prominent as a Mason, being a past master of 
Lyons lodge, past high priest of Lyons chapter, and past grand high priest of the 
chapter of Michigan.  He leaves a wife and one son, Edward C.
