Mr. Spaulding was born in Greenville, Nov. 27, 1874, the son of Lilburn A. and Alice C. Spaulding. On October 15, 1898, he was married to Miss Bertha W. Behrens of Greenville. Two children, Leona M., and Harry L., were born to them, and both preceded their father in death. For many years Mr. Spaulding was a conductor on the Pere Marquette railroad and was widely known throughout the section covered by his run. About 12 years ago the Spauldings moved to Detroit where Mr. Spaulding became conductor of the Ford railroad, a position he held up to the accident and subsequent illness which caused his death. Surviving are his widow; a sister, Margaret Spaulding, Ionia; a brother, Herbert, and a niece, Mrs. B.B. Haviland, both of Highland Park. Rev. Paul L. Stewart officiated at the funeral services, held Sunday, Aug. 17, from Myers Funeral Home. Bearers were Fred and Rudolph Behrens, William Storch, Bruce Hill, Glenn Piper and Elton Thorpe. Burial was in Forest Home, Cemetery, Greenville. Out-of-town friends who attended the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell, Mrs. Harry VanSickle, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Newman, all of Detroit; Rudolph Behrens, George S. Smith, William Filkins, Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Smith, Houghton Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Munz and Fred Behrens of Greenville and Miss Esther K. Schafer of Lansing.
