Spaulding, who died seven years ago, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Dick Marshall, in Detroit, late Tuesday afternoon. She was born in Lenheim, Canada, in 1859, and came to Michigan with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Harper, in 1873. She attended school in Ionia, and graduated from Ionia high school in 1883, with a class of four boys and four girls. The following year she taught in the Prairie Creek school. She was married to Lee P. Spaulding, Ionia township, and they began housekeeping in the house now owned by Ed Burtraw, which was located on what was a part of the Spaulding farm. A few years later, after the death of Mr. Spaulding’s father, he and Mrs. Spaulding moved to the old Spaulding home, where they lived for many years. The house, a large brick house, burned to the ground two years ago. Since the death of Mr. Spaulding seven years ago, Mrs. Spaulding has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Marian Marshall, in Detroit. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Ronald Beurman, and Mrs. Dick Marshall, both of Detroit, and a son, Maurice Spaulding, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Miss Alice Harper, Bayard street; Mrs. Clark Matson, of Chicago, and Mrs. Elizabeth Burns, of Canada; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Boynton funeral chapel Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
