Ionia Daily Standard – Tuesday 29 August 1899
Ten suns roll by and the word is, Jerry Spaulding is no more  The date, 
November 24, 1898.  Mr. Spaulding was not entered on the roll of membership, 
but had often been with us, as though he were one of us, and was listened to 
with pleasure when called on.  He was born in Onondaga Co., N.Y. March 12, 
1832, came to Michigan in 1853.  Thus Mr. Spaulding’s manhood’s work was all 
in our state.
