The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, November 29, 1954
Mrs. Helen Louise Spaulding, 86, died Monday morning at 2:30 at the Ionia 
Convalescent Home where she had been a patient for four weeks.  She was born 
in Grand Ledge, April 26, 1868, and was married to Nelson J. Spaulding June 3, 
1891.  They lived all of their lives in Ionia where Mr. Spaulding was a 
hardware merchant and also served as mayor of Ionia in 1932 and 1934.

Surviving are one son, Gerald of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Decker of 
Pomona, Calif.; six grandchildren, George N. Spaulding of Ann Arbor, Richard 
and Helen Spaulding of New York, Jerry Spaulding of Ionia, Robert Decker of 
Los Angeles and Carol Decker of Pomona; one sister, Mrs. Josephine O’Leary, of 
Detroit.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Boynton 
funeral home with the Rev. George L. Rentschler officiating.  Interment will 
be in the family lot at Highland Park cemetery.
