She had been in poor health for the past five years. Born November 13, 1866, in Germany, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Mueller. She came to Ionia with her parents in 1882. October 13, 1886, she was married to William Speckin, who survives her. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church. Surviving her besides her husband, William, are four sons, Fred W. Speckin of Grand Rapids, Henry Speckin and Clarence Speckin of Ionia, and Bernard Speckin of Lansing; one daughter, Mrs. Louise Vermilyea of Lansing; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A daughter, Johanna, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the St. John’s Lutheran church with a prayer service at the home at 1:30 o’clock. Rev. R. A. Rook will officiate and burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. The body will repose at the Boynton funeral home. Subsequent Publication, March 25, 1943 Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Speckin, 76, of 646 North Jefferson street, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran church, preceded by a prayer service at the home at 1:30 o’clock. Rev. R. A. Rook officiated and burial was in Highland Park cemetery. In charge of floral arrangements were Miss Dorothy Tafel and Miss Gertrude Succop. Pallbearers were William Speckin, Donald Speckin, Clair Speckin, Lewis Martin, Russell Martin and Alfred Vermilyea, Jr. Relatives attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Vermilyea, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Vermilyea, Jr., Miss Marjorie Vermilyea, Mrs. Robert Kobo, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Speckin, Mr. and Mrs. John Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Laskowsky, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Wohlfert, Mrs. Martha Getz, Mrs. Herman Yahnke, Mr. and Mrs. William Yahnke and Mrs. Hugo Hein of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Speckin, William Speckin, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bielow, Mrs. Maxine Hazzard, and Mrs. Richard Jerrills of Grand Rapids; Harold Martin of Camp Roberts, California; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Speckin of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Martin of San Diego, California; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Herlein of Battle Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tasker and Mrs. George Tasker of Palo; Mrs. Fred Speckin, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schaffer, Miss Ethel Speckin, Mrs. Peter Schneider and Mrs. Leonard Speckin of Saginaw.
