Dec. 18, 1943 William H. Speckin, 79, a resident of Ionia since he was 17 years of age, died at his home, 646 North Jefferson street at 6 a.m. Saturday. Born in Kagendorf, Germany, August 30, 1864, Mr. Speckin came to Ionia when __ years of age. His wife died in March 1943. Surviving are five children, Fred W. Speckin, Grand Rapids, Mrs. Alfred Vermilyea and Bernard Speckin of Lansing; and Emory and Clarence Speckin, both of Ionia. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Fred Speckin of Saginaw and Louis A. Speckin of Ionia, a sister, Mrs. Edward Schaffer of Saginaw. Funeral services are to be conducted from the St. Johns Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with services at the home at 2 o’clock. Rev. R.A Rook will officiate and interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
