Rapids Press. - Monday, Nov. 15, 1937 John Speckin, 79, born in Germany and former Ionia city marshall for 43 years and foreman and superintendent of Pere Marquette railroad shops passed away. He was buried at Highland Park cemetery. Mr. Speckin served three terms as a member of the Ionia city board of public works, he was an alderman after he retired from the railroad. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Earl Richter of Connecticut, three sons: Louis R. of Ionia, William K. of Grand Rapids and Fred J. of Lansing. One sister survives, Mrs. Edward Schaeffer of Saginaw, as well as two brothers, Louis A. and Fred H. of Saginaw. Mr. Speckin had 6 grandchildren.
