Spedoske, 69, of 831 Detroit St., Portland, died July 11 in Grayling as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Jan. 25, 1920 in Big Rapids, the son of George and Elizabeth (Doyle) Spedoske. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; five sons, Michael of Grand Island, N.Y., Steven, William, John and Robert, all of Portland, four daughters, Betty Kiter of Dimondale, Kathy Smith, Mary Hoppes, and Sally Goodrich, all of Portland, 27 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph of Irons, Mich.; five sisters, Mary Lovell of Rockford, Martha Bowden of Muskegon, Beatrice Bartolema of New York, Patricia Lyle of Frankfort, Nora Gaugier of California. He was retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars 4090, and Knights of Columbus Hall. He was G.S.R. for the Portland Area A.A. Graveside services will be conducted under the auspices of VFW 1090 in Portland Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 8 p.m. Thursday at the Neller Funeral Home, Portland. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Portland, the Rev. Fr. Richard VanLente officiating. Pallbearers will be Todd, Paul and Ben Spedoske, Brian and Greg Kiter and Tim Hoppes.
