She was the fourth child in a family of six and the second to leave this life. Two sisters are living near Johnstown, Pa., and one in Indiana. A brother, Cyrus is living in Freeport. Shortly after her marriage to Samuel Speicher, the family moved to Elkhart county, Indiana, which remained their home until the fall of 1869, at which time they moved to Bowne, lived there seven years, and then moved upon the farm four miles west of town, which has since been their home, with the exception of the time spent in Lake Odessa. In the fall of 1901 Mr. and Ms. Speicher left their farm for Lake Odessa but returned after three years. On the 22nd of last November they again made lake Odessa their home. Mrs. Speicher, until a few years ago enjoyed very good health. For several years her health has been failing, and especially during the last years. Her suffering during the past six months has scarcely been endurable, even tho she was never confined to her bed until the last day of her life. She exhibited unusual patience during these last days of agony, always appearing cheerful. In spite of her condition, the end was not yet expected, and her death came as a shock to all her friends. She leaves a husband, a daughter, Ida Mote, of Beaverton, and a son, William of this place, to mourn her loss. One daughter died at the age of five. there are six grandchildren. Of other relatives, there are a great number, most of whom live at a distance. Her loss is not a trivial one as she was always endeavoring to live for those about her. The end came on February 21, 1912, at the age of 62 years, four months and two days. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church on Wednesday, Feb. 28, by Rev. S.M. Smith, assisted by Rev. P.B. Messner, of the Church of the Brethren. She has been a faithful member of this church during the greater part of her life. Interment in Lakeside cemetery.
