Belding Banner-News, 17 Feb 1898

Mrs. Ola Spencer, wife of Larou R. Spencer, died Tuesday morning at 1:30
o’clock, aged 24 years.  Her death was unexpected as she had been sick only
since last Friday and the physician thought she was improving from the first
attack..  The deceased was formerly Ola Coles and came here seven years ago to
work in the silk mill.  She was married to Mr. Spencer four years ago and was a
loving and faithful wife.  After the funeral services which were held at the
residence Wednesday afternoon her remains were taken to Bloomer Centre for
interment beside her mother and sister.  She left no children.  Mr. Spencer has
the sympathy of the entire community in his sad affliction.  Fellow workmen in
the factory sent a beautiful floral wreath and have remembered him with a purse
of $40.
