Spencer occurred at Clare, Tuesday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Keating. Her age was 82 years, and many of the old residents of this vicinity will remember her as a lady of most exemplary character. She was the second wife of Ambrose Spencer and step mother to Dr. Spencer of Grattan and E.R. and A.L. Spencer of this city. Mr. Spencer died about fifteen years ago and shortly afterwards she went west to reside with her daughter, and also for a time, with a son, T. ?. VanHouten, returning to Michigan with Mr. and Mrs. Keating a few years ago. She was a devoted member of the M.E. church and through all the shifting scenes of life her faith in God never failed her and she was ever ready to say, “Thy Will Be Done.” The funeral and interment take place at Smyrna tomorrow, Friday, Rev. N.O. Hartman officiating. --------------------- Belding Banner, 7 Sep 1899 Smyrna. We were all very much saddened to hear of the death of Aunt Margaret Spencer.
