The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, February 8, 1926
The death of Mrs. Harry E. Spencer occurred Sunday evening about 8 o’clock at 
her home, 932 East Seventh Street, Flint.  Several days of critical illness 
preceded her death, and her health had been failing for several months.  Miss 
Mabel Gibsone left for Flint early Sunday in response to a message announcing 
the critical illness of her sister.

Funeral services, it was expected Monday, would be held at the Flint home 
Tuesday afternoon, and burial would be at Flint.  Surviving are the husband, 
Harry E. Spencer; one daughter, Mrs. C. H. McKinley of Ann Arbor, one son, 
Harold Spencer of Flint, and two sisters, Miss Mabel Gibsone of Ionia, and 
Miss Blanche Gilsone of Los Angeles.

Mrs. Spencer, who was born in England, was for the greater part of her life a 
resident of Ionia, where she counted many among the circle of her friends.  
Nearly six years ago they moved to Flint, where their residence has been 
since.  Her health had not been strong before she left Ionia and, although it 
improved considerably after leaving here, Mrs. Spencer did not regain her 
strength entirely. 

During her life in Ionia Mrs. Spencer was active in social affairs.  She was a 
loyal and energetic worker in the St. John’s Episcopal church in addition to 
her other church activities and church society endeavors she was a member of 
the choir for many years.  She was also identified with local lodge affairs 
and was  at the time of her death a member of the Lady Maccabees of Ionia.  
She was, above all, a home loving mother and wife, and was loved by her 
friends for her hospitality and her sterling worth and loyalty.
