Spicer, 78, of Lyons died Thursday, Nov. 16, 1995 at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1916 in Kent county, the son of Glen and Pearl (Rhoads) Spicer. He married the former Helen E. Dungerow in July of 1938 in Fenton. He lived in Gaines, Michigan for many years and moved to Ionia in 1948 and Lyons in 1953. He was retired from Brown Corp. where he had worked for 15 years and also worked for Specialty Block and Barker Heating in Ionia. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Helen E.; four sons; Thomas (Julie) Spicer and Kenneth (Hazel) Spicer, both of Antioch, Calif., Theron Jack (Barb) Spicer, of Ionia and Glen Spicer, of North Carolina; three daughters; Sharon (Robert) Neill, of Rochester, Dianna (Dean) Martin, of Ionia and Susanne Smith, of Pewamo; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Theo Spicer, of Florida; sisters Thelma Bowman, of North Branch and Betty Cassell, of Mesick; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and two grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cook Funeral home in Ionia with Rev. Kendall Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Lyons Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice or Secure Care of Carson City.
