The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, June 29, 1987

Theresia Spitzley, 84, of 10888 Frost Road, Portland, died June 19 at her 
residence.  She was born April 30, 1903 in Westphalia, the daughter of 
Theodore and Margaret Rademacher Bengel.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s 
Catholic Church in Portland, and a member of that church’s Altar Society.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel L. Spitzley of Portland and Eugene T. Spitzley 
of Lansing; two daughters, Marie Manning of Portland and Margaret Mleko of 
Baraga; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Bengel of 
Westphalia; three sisters, Mathilda Malloy of Lansing, Sister Marina and 
Sister Agnette, both of Wilmette, Ill.

Rosary services were held June 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Funeral 
mass was held June 21 at St. Patrick’s, with the Rev. Richard VanLente 
officiating.  Burial was in Portland Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by the 
Neller Funeral Home of Portland.
