Aug. 29, 1994 Mary M. Spitzley, 95 of Lansing, died Aug. 20, 1994. Mrs. Spitzley was born in Beal City Dec. 27, 1898. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, the Altar Society, a perpetual member of the Christian Mother's Society of Holy Trinity Church of Fowler, and a long time resident of Oliver Towers. Survivors include one son, Arthur Spitzley of Cincinnati, Ohio; four daughters, Genevieve (Raymond) Halfman of Fowler, Angela (Robert) Schueller of Lansing, Bea (Charles) Maker of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karen (Jack) Love of Laingsburg; two daughters-in-law, Therese VanWormer of Lansing and LaVerne Spitzley of Lansing; 35 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; several great-great- grandchildren; sister, Cecilia Miller of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and son Kenneth. The Rosary was recited Aug. 22 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 23 at St. Mary Cathedral, with Rev. Msgr. James Murray officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Westphalia. Casket bearers were Andrew Spitzley, Kenneth Spitzley Jr., Jim Halfmann, Donald Schueller, Dean Love, and Dave Halmann. Honorary casket bearers were Duane Spitzley and Bill Maker.
