Portland Review - Feb. 1, 2009

Larry W. Spohn, 72, of Portland, the Lord called our loving father, grandfather 
and great-grandfather home on Jan. 20, 2009.

He was born in the son of Paul and Sena (Peterson) Spohn. Larry worked in the 
block, brick and masonry trade prior to being a carpet layer for most of his 
life. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, K of C and the V.F.W. His 
pride and joy in life was his five sons and their families especially the 
grandchildren. He loved a good game of euchre and just taking a drive to 
wherever it took him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Laura, brother-in-law Bill 
Willemin, in-laws George and Lena Benedict, step mother Elaine Spohn and his 
goddaughter Susie Csepregi. 

Surviving are his children Mark (Marlys) Spohn, Steve (Shelly) Spohn, Ken 
(Sherri) Spohn, Jim (Doreen) Spohn and Joseph Spohn; grandchildren Jill (Dave) 
Carey, Josh (Brooke), Travis and Shaina, Tyler and Caleb, and James and Laura; 
great-granddaughter Sadie; sisters V.A. (Al) Goodrich, Elaine “Bugsey” 
Willemin, Doreen (Jack) Warder, Diane (Denny) Goff, Debbie (Dan) Grohs; 
brothers Dan (Margo) Spohn and Don (Karen) Spohn, brother-in-law John (Mary 
Lou) Tannery; sister-in-law Alice (Bob) Neveau; many nieces and nephews. 

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 24, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 
with Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal followed at Portland 
Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 
Portland.
