Ionia Daily Sentinel – Tuesday, 5 February 1924

Lillian Ella Townsend was born in Orange Township, March 26, 1885, where she 
lived until her marriage to Glenn A. Sprague, of Berlin Township, December 19, 
1906.  Since then she has lived on their farm in Berlin Township with the 
exception of one year, part of which was spent in the southern part of Orange 
and the rest with his father.  To this union were born eight sons, seven of 
whom with their father, survive her.  They are:  Clinton, Howard, Ivan, 
Russell, Glenn, Jr., Wayne and Francis.  The youngest going with his mother 
January 30, 1924.  

She leaves also her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Townsend, three 
sisters, Mrs. Earl Benedict, of Muir; Mrs. Clark Reeder of Orange; Mrs. 
Clayton Sible of Flint; two brothers Clifford and Lynne Townsend, of Orange 
Township and a host of other relatives and friends.  She joined the LeValley 
M. E. Church of Orange in early childhood.  She was a devoted wife and mother, 
a good neighbor and friend.  Long will she be missed.
