The Portland Observer, Thursday, July 20, 1933

Driving to Mulliken last Friday to advise her brother Edward Sprague of the 
death of their cousin at Harrison, Mrs. Effie Fishell and her daughter, Miss 
Gertrude, were greatly shocked to learn that Mr. Sprague had just died and the 
body then was being carried from a neighbor’s wheat field were he had been 
helping in the harvest, to the house.  Apoplexy was given as the cause of his 
death.  Mrs. Will Brown is also a sister.  W. O. Sprague, of Haslett, formerly 
deputy sheriff in Portland, is a brother.

Funeral services were held Sunday with burial in the Mulliken cemetery.
