Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Thurs. March 25, 2010

F. Wayne (Tom) Sprague, 91, of Ionia, was born on the family farm in Berlin 
Twp. on May 300, 1918, the son of Glenn and Lillian (Townsend) Sprague. He 
passed away March 23, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was formerly 
married to Mary Stout March 9, 1940. He went on to marry Alma Adams, Dec. 10, 
1983.

He owned and operated a Trucking Co and farmed. Tom attended the Lyons Baptist 
Church and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Ionia, Ionia Hunting 
and Fishing Club and Ionia Elks Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He 
enjoyed watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and MSU Spartans. He 
also enjoyed showing Jersey cattle. 

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Alma of Ionia; daughter, Janet 
(Larry) Listerman of Ionia; stepson, Jim (Pat) Adams of Torch Lake; 
grandchildren, Jackie (Kurt) Hartman of Ionia, Jenny (Larry) Scheurer of Lyons, 
Chad (Laura) Listerman of Ionia, Debbie Lee of Grand Rapids, Kevin (Amy) 
Sprague of Hawaii and Jason Sprague of Wacousta; several step-grandchildren, 
great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; special niece, Lynna 
Seabrook and special nephew, Robert Sprague. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne S. Sprague, in 2002; and six 
brothers, Clinton, Howard, Glen, Ivan, Russell and Jerry.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at lake Funeral Home in Ionia with 
Mr. Richard Halsted officiating. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. Visitation will 
be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the 
funeral home. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Tom’s name to
