She was born August 14, 1870 in Montcalm county, the daughter of Margaret and Jared Sprague and came here to work in the Richardson Silk Mill in 1890. When that factory closed down in 1925, she went to Lansing to work for the Reo Co., and retired about 20 years ago. She had lived with her friend, Miss Jennie Hughes for many years, both in this city and Lansing until she passed away 16 years ago. When her health made it hard for her to live alone she came here in October, 1955 to live with her niece, Mrs. John Lent and then when she could no longer care for her, Miss Sprague was taken to Barnes Home for care. She leaves no close relatives, but an old friend Mrs. Pearl Foss Shaft of Lansing has filled that place with her in later years. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock at Fitzjohn Funeral Home with Rev. Jewell Bolejack officiating and the burial will be in Otisco cemetery beside her parents.
