Ionia Sentinel Standard-Ionia,Michigan
Richard C. Sprague  LYONS- A former Lyons resident, Richard Charles Sprague, 58, of
route 4, Big Rapids, Michigan, died Tuesday afternoon at a Big Rapids hospital
following an extended illness. Born in Osceola county, December 1,1912, he was the
son of Lee and Jennie Sprague. He came to Lyons in 1924 and attended the Crane
School. December 9, 1934, he married Evelyn Anderson. He was a section hand for
Grand Trunk railroad retiring in 1966, he went to Big Rapids to make a home in 1968.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of Big Rapids; three sons, Robert of Kalamazoo;
Phillip of Big Rapids, and Richard of Lyon; one daughter Mrs. Roy Crater of
Riverdale; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Frank of Branch, Lyle of Muir, and
Walter of Mesa, Ariz.,; two sisters, Mrs. William Thomas of Ionia and Mrs. Fred
Lehman of Palo. Mr. Sprague was at Shaw-Rivett-Hull Funeral home in Muir until noon
Friday when he was taken to Lyons Baptist church for services at 2pm. Rev. C.R.
Harrison officiated.
