Portland Observer, 17 Jul 1895

J.C. Springstead of Muir was struck by the evening passenger train on the D. & M. 
road last Saturday night, and was instantly killed.  His wife saw the accident.  
Springstead was a brother of Mrs. Mark Taylor, formerly of this village.
