Sproat, 84, of Clinton, a former Wayne County Public Health Nursing Supervisor, died midnight Sunday at Bixby Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Ada on Sept. 26, 1890, to Denton Sproat and Emily Pelton. They preceded her in death. Miss Sproat was graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School in 1909, The University of Michigan in 1913, and took additional courses at Bixby Hospital, Flint, Harper Hospital and Wayne State University, both at Detroit and The University of Chicago at Chicago. Prior to 1939, she taught school in the Flint area. In 1932 she began working for the Wayne County Dept. of Public Health and was promoted to nursing supervisor 12 years later. She retired in 1949. Miss Sproat was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Grand Rapids and Royal Oak, The Royal Oak Garden Club, the League of Women Voters and many public health organizations. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Daniele Reilly of Clinton, one brother, Robert Sproat of Rockford, several nieces and nephews. The body has been taken to the Crematorium for cremation. Arrangements are being made by the Proctor Funeral Home, Clinton.
