MELVIN K. SPROUL 1942-2016
Melvin K. Sproul, 74, of Lyons, passed away Thursday Aug. 18, 2016 at home under 
the loving care of his family and Ionia Area Hospice. Melvin was born on Feb 8, 
1942 in Lansing the son of Kenneth and Marjorie (Murphy) Sproul.

Melvin was a past member of the UAW and had retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing 
after many years of service as a quality inspector. He enjoyed woodworking, 
riding motorcycles, especially a Harley, fishing and hunting.

Melvin will be greatly missed by is family and friends.

He is loved and survived by his children Randy Sproul of Ionia, Shawn Sproul of 
Muir, Bryon Sproul of Traverse City, Donald Sproul, Tina (Steve) Johnston, all 
of Lyons, Eric (Charity) Sproul of Edmore; 10 grandchildren; several great-
grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary, Nancy and Jeanine. Melvin was preceded 
in death  by his parents and one grandson, Donald Sproul II.

Funeral service will be 3 PM Sunday Aug. 28, 2016 at Muir first Christian church 
with Pastor Greg Gladding officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the 
service at church. Committal prayers will follow in Lyons Cemetery. Memorials 
may be given to Ionia Area Hospice or Muir Christian Church. Envelopes will be 
available at the church or at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where 
funeral care has been entrusted. Messages of condolence may also be given at
