The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Friday, July 12, 1940


Grave services were held Monday afternoon at the Oak Hill cemetery in Ionia for 
Miss Myrtle Squires, former Ionian who died at her home in Detroit last week.  
The body was sent by rail to Ionia Monday and grave services were held 
immediately upon arrival.  Rev. Herbert A. Simpson, retired Presbyterian 
minister, conducted the services.

Miss Squires is survived by one sister, Mrs. E. A. Horrigan of Davenport, Iowa, 
and a brother, Cuyler Squires.  Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Horrigan accompanied the 
body to Ionia.  

Miss Squires was born in Ionia. She attended the Ionia high school and later 
she worked in the Ionia courthouse in the offices of the circuit judge and the 
county agent.
