Ionia Sentinel - 18 June 1962
Berwin E. Stadel, 51, died unexpectedly Monday at his farm on Brown road, route 
one.  Dr. W. R. Birk, Barry county medical examiner investigated and said 
Stadel died of self inflicted carbon monoxide.  Mr. Stadel was born November 
22, 1910 in Carlton township, Barry county, the son of Frederick and Sarah Kart 
Stadel, and had lived his entire life on the farm where he died.

He was graduated from Lake Odessa high school in 1928 and was married to 
Madeline Durkee at Lake Odessa September 30, 1934.  Mr. Stadel was a member of 
Grace Brethren church, Farm Bureau and FHA county board.  He was a present 
director of the Co-op elevator at Lake Odessa and was a past Carlton township 
officer.

Surviving are his wife Madeline; a daughter, Mrs. Duane Yager, a son, Dallas 
and a brother Harley, all of Lake Odessa and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be conducted at Pickens Funeral Chapel Thursday at 11 am with 
burial at Lakeside Cemetery.  The Rev. Raymond Durkee of Williamston will 
officiate, assisted by the Rev. Lee Crist, pastor of Grace Brethren Church.
