Harley Stadel Dies in Hastings

Harley E. Stadel, 75, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the  Provincial House at 
Hastings where he had been a patient for a month following an extended illness.

He was born March 19, 1898, in Keene township, Jackson county, the son of 
Frederic E.and Sarah I (Kart) Stadel. He moved to the Lake Odessa area with his 
parents 71 years ago and for the past 50 years resided in the village of Lake 
Odessa.

Mr. Stadel was employed for 21 years at the Hasting's Manufacturing Company, 
retiring in 1963. Previous to that time he was employed by the local Ford 
garage.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge of Woodland.

Mr.Stadel married Ruth Knowles of the Hastings area in 1923 and she passed away 
March 15, 1971 and a daughter Joan Kay preceded him in death in 1944.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.Larry (Judith) Raffler of 2825 Martin road, 
Hastings, four grandchildren, a niece and nephew.

Mr.Stadel reposes at Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa where funeral 
services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30. Rev Randal Metz will officiate 
with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
