Ionia Daily Sentinel - Sat. Jan. 13, 1962

John J. Stahl, 81, 818 West Lincoln avenue, died Saturday morning at the 
Pitchford County home where he had been a patient two years.

He was born in Czechoslovakia February 7, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John 
Stahl.

In 1913 he came to Chicago and May 15, 1913 was married to Frieda Schildt and 
moved to Ionia following their marriage.

Mrs. Stahl died in 1953. With his wife, he operated a grocery store and oil 
station at the corner of M21 and Haynor road for 22 years. He retired in 1952. 
Mr. Stahl was a member of Western Bohemian Fraternal association of Chicago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles D. Smith of Ithaca, Mrs. Ross Koenig 
of Ionia; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home. 
Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
