It seems that Stahl and the two boys were in the water washing sheep, and the first thing that was noticed pertaining, to the drowning of Stahl was his hat floating on the water. One of the boys called to his father, who immediately seized a fence board and shoved it out to the drowning man, but he failed to catch hold of it and as far as can be ascertained, he never came up after going down the first time. Everything was done to rescue the man and at last a rake was procured from a neighboring farm house with which they succeeded in pulling him out. Word reached Lake Odessa about one o'clock that a man had been pulled out of the pond near Mooney's place and immediately Drs.Russ and Horner accompanied by our reporter started for the man's ouse and reached there just as he was being carried into the yard. Two hours of hard work were spent in trying to bring the man back to life, but to no avail. Stahl would have been 33 years of age the 6th of June and was as fine a built man as one sees. He leaves a wife and Four children to mourn his loss, and the whole community seems to be shocked over the affair. No blame can be laid to anyone as everything was done to save him and it looks as though he may have met is death in another way than drowning, as it seems as if he would certainly have come to the surface after going down. It looks hard to see a strong, well man stricken down in the prime of life, and it also looks hard to think that a wife and four small children are left without a husband and father's care.
