Stalter, 78, life long resident of Odessa township died at her home on Route 2, Friday afternoon after a long illness. She was born August 15, 1875 the daughter of George and Harriet Hazel. She has lived on the farm two miles north of Lake Odessa since her marriage fifty years ago. Her husband, John, preceded her in death in 1943. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Varney of Woodland, Mrs. Iva Moore of Byron Center and five sons, Emerson, Galen and Lloyd of Lake Odessa, William of Clarksville and Lee of Ionia. Two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Blackman of Portland, Mrs. Anna Shattuck of Owosso and four brothers, Alfred Hazel of Lake Odessa, Charles Hazel of Portland, William Hazel of Jackson and Oliver Hazel of Lansing, seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Stalter reposes at the Pickens funeral chapel where services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Roy Houghton officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
