Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 May 2002

Vernalie C. Stanton, 62, of Ionia passed away May 3, 2002 in Ionia.

She will be sadly missed by her husband and her family.  Vernalie was born May 
11, 1939 in Marshall, the daughter of Vernon and Nathalie (Button) Planck.  She 
married Gene Stanton in 1966.  She was a member of the Ionia Church of the 
Nazarene.  Past member of Eastern Star in Lansing.  She was just a lover of 
everything.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Stanton of Ionia; sons, Jim Smith of White 
Cloud, Thomas (Sandy) Smith of Lansing and Troy Stanton of Ionia; daughters, 
Trina Stanton of DeWitt, Brenda Stanton (James Johnson) of Ionia, Cindy (Dave) 
Kerr of Ionia; sister Nathalie (Darrell) Johnson of Lansing; several 
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Ionia Church of 
the Nazarene with Rev. Kirk Starkweather officiating.  The family will receive 
friends and relatives from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia.  Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to Ionia Area Hospice.
