The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, June 13, 2009

Sonia Kay Stanton, aged 65, of Ionia, passed away June 10, 2009. She was born 
July 22, 1943 in Hart, Michigan, the daughter of Angus and Leona (Sayers) 
Lake. She married Wayne Stanton July 23, 1960 in Belding. Sonia started a 
girls softball league in Saranac many years ago.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Wayne Stanton of Ionia; 
children Renee Stanton of Ionia, Troy (Angie) Stanton of Saranac, and Tonya 
(Ross) Blow of Saranac; grandchildren, Trinity Slusher, Summer Twomey, Brandon 
Stanton, Derek Blow, Morgan Stanton, Paige Twomey and Jordan Blow and 7 great-
grandchildren; brothers Monte Lake of Orleans, Larry Lake of Orleans, and Rick 
Lake of Fenwick; sisters Sandy (Joe) Hayden of Saranac, and Sharon Adams of 
Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson Kody, 1 great grandson 
Ashton, 1 brother Earl and 2 sisters Ramona and Roberta.

Memorial services will be held Monday 2 p.m. at the Saranac High School 
Gymnasium with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will receive 
friends and relatives Saturday 5-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. In 
lieu of flowers you may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Athletic 
Boosters for a memorial block at the football field.
