Born December 23, 1872, in Canada he came to Michigan with his parents, Daniel and Margaret Stanton when he was seven years old and settled at Lexington near Port Huron. Ten years later he moved to Belding where he has lived ever since except for a short time in Greenville. Fifty years ago he became a stone mason and worked at it off and on ever since. He was former owner of Donovan Confectionary and Cigar store and later operated a pool and lunch room. Up to shortly before his death he was employed as a spool stamper at the Richardson Silk mills. He was a member of the Ionia lodge B.P.O.E. and of the Smyrna Friendship club. Surviving him is his widow, Mrs. Anna Perant Stanton; two daughters, Miss Laura Stanton of Detroit and Mrs. Floyd Yerington of Greenville Route 1, one son, Albert Stanton, of Detroit; and two grandchildren. Services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock from the Fitzjohn funeral chapel with the Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating. The body will be at the mausoleum until burial at Otisco cemetery.
