Stanton died at his home at 5 o’clock Monday morning after a short illness. He complained of not feeling well a week before and did not go to work in the factory but did not think it serious enough to call a physician for several days. Mr. Ryerson set up with him Sunday night and it was thought that there was no immediate danger, Mrs. Stanton retiring at about 2 o’clock. At 5 o’clock the change came and before she could be called he had passed away. The deceased came from Lexington to this city five years ago. He was born in Canada and was sixty years old. He leaves a wife, two sons and a daughter. Edgar Stanton, one of the sons is at work in the electric light plant in Smyrna. Mr. Stanton was an excellent citizen and a kind husband, he was a member of the Baptist church and also a member of the Maccabee order in which he carried a life insurance of $1,000. The funeral was largely attended at the Baptist church yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock Rev. W.L. Munger officiating. The Maccabees and ladies of the L.O.T.M. were present in a body and followed his remains to the cemetery where they were laid to rest.
