CLARKSVILLE-  Melvin M. Starbard, 68, 10943 Darby Road, died Sunday morning at 
St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids where he had been a patient for four days.

he was born April 20, 1915 in Campbell Township, the son of Earl and Lucy Weaver 
Starbard.

He attended Jennings Rural school and later married Maxine Miller on March 21, 
1940.

They lived and farmed in the Clarksville area all his life.

He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church and Lake Odessa 
Ambulance Service.

He is survived by his wife Maxine; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Scobey of 
Clarksville; one son, Darrel Starbard of Grand Ledge; four grandchildren; one 
brother, Lester of Seal Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Boyd of Warren 
and Mrs. Melinda Daughenbaugh of Roswell, New Mexico. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops 
Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa with the Rev. Jerry Mahler and Rev. Chalmer Miller 
officiating. 

Burial will be in Bowne Mennonite Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Critical Care unit of St. Mary's 
hospital, in care of the funeral home.
