Ionia Sentinel Standard, 17 Aug 2002

Douglas W. Stark, 83, of Ionia passed away Aug. 15, 2002 in Lansing.  He was 
born April 12, 1919 in Ubly, the son of David and Rebecca (Wessels) Stark.  He 
married Joan Loretta Stecker May 9, 1945 in Detroit.

Douglas worked on a farm until joining the Navy in 1945.  He was a World War II 
vet.  After the war he worked in factories.  He came to Ionia in 1954.  He then 
worked at Mitchel Bently until it closed.  He then went on to retire from 
Checker Motors in Kalamazoo.  He was a devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Stark of Ionia; sons, David C. 
Stark of Belding and Richard E. (Rebecca) Stark of Lowell; one sister-in-law, 
Violet Stark of Ohio; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

At his request there will be no service.  Arrangements were made by Lake 
Funeral Home in Ionia.
