Burial was in the Saranac cemetery. Coroner Harry Myers, who was called to investigate, said that Stark had shot himself with a 12-gauge shotgun. Friends of the family stated that the man had been in ill health for nearly 10 years and it is believed that worry had caused him to commit the act. Stark’s wife said that her husband did he usual farm chores Sunday morning and had returned to the farm home where he played with their 10-months-old child. He left the house shortly and Mrs. Stark said she heard a report form a gun. At first believing it was a car that had backfired, upon investigating she found her husband lying on the garage floor. With the aid of a passing motorist Mrs. Stark carried her husband into the house. He was dead. Surviving besides the wife are three daughters, Rosalie, three, Caroline, five, and Sarah, 10 months, and two step-daughters, Evelyn, 10, and Clara, 15. A brother, Orin, of Saranac, and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Maxwell, Keene township and Mrs. Minnie Gillette of Ionia township, also survive.
