Cobb Stark, who died so suddenly at her home on Main Street, in this village October 15, 1896, was born in Lawrence, St. Lawrence County, New York, August, 1861, where she lived with her parents until the death of her mother which occurred in 1870. After that she was shifted from place to place until 1872 when she came to Michigan and resided in Easton with her uncle, William Bradford until 1876. Then she returned to New York where she married George W. Stark on December 22, 1876. She experienced religion and united with the ME Church at the age of 15. Mr. and Mrs. Stark and family lived in West Stockholm, New York until August, 1887, when they moved to Lowell, where they resided until December, 1889 when they moved to this village. She has been a great sufferer for years but about a year ago her health improved, and she has since enjoyed better health and for years, until about 6 weeks ago. Since which time she had been very sick and she had said she would never recover. But she gained gradually for some time, then grew worse again, but she was up and dressed that week. Sunday, October 11, she was taken worse and was a great sufferer until Wednesday afternoon when she was to all appearances was better. Thursday morning the nurse went home for a few minutes, she being left with her children, when death called her away. Aid was called but it was of no use. She had a heart trouble, which caused sudden death. She leaves a husband and three children. She was a good and beloved wife and a beautiful mother, always the same where ever she was. And she will be sadly missed in the home circle as a great helper and adviser. Her father, Joseph Cobb, of Baldwin, and Uncle William Bradford, of Easton, attended the funeral. The funeral was held from the ME church, Saturday. Rev. W. H. Wright officiated. "Card of Thanks: We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the kind friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and assistance in our hour of affliction. Geo. Stark and Children".
