Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 Nov 1977

Howard L. Starks, 62, of 5811 Potters road, Saranac, died suddenly Sunday
evening at Ionia County Memorial hospital.  He was born April 17, 1915, the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Starks.  Mr. Starks was a partner in Ionia Auto Glass and
Ionia Welding shop since 1943, retiring one month ago.  He was a former member
of the Moose and Elks in Ionia and a member of the TPA.  He married the former
Sylvia Shippell in Big Rapids December 30, 1938.  They lived in the Ionia area
since 1943.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry Leroy of Saranac; one daughter,
Phyllis Louise Harr of West Virginia; two brothers, Earl and Ray of Ionia; one
sister, Mrs. Letha Coon of Reed city and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Myers-Roetman funeral home.
