Sentinel-Std. - Saturday, Nov. 13, 1982

Cedar Springs- Sylvia Starks, 60, of 12970 Harvard Road, Cedar Springs, died 
Friday at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids.

She was born April 1, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Mae Keiper Shippell. She 
married Howard Starks on December 30, 1938, in Big Rapids. He preceded her in 
death in November of 1977.

She moved to Ionia in 1943, then to Saranac in 1948. She has lived the last two 
years in Cedar Springs.

Surviving are one son; Larry Starks of Belding; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis 
Hinkley of Cedar Springs; eight brothers, Robert, Raymond and Leon Shippell of 
Marshall, Eugene Kilbourn and Cecil Kilbourn of Marshall, Bruce Kilbourn of 
Sunfield, Herman Kilbourn  of Melton, Ind. Frank Kilbourn of Grand Rapids; two 
sisters: Louis Shook of Bellevue and Goldie Brand of Ionia; two half-brothers: 
Howard Shippell of Marshall and Tom Shippell of California; 12 grandchildren and 
one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Myers-Roetman 
Funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Marne cemetery.

he family will be at the funeral home on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. 
and 7 to 9 p.m.
