The Ionia Standard, Friday, September 8, 1911

Annett Chapin was born at Elyria, Ohio, on April 1, 1859, and died at the home 
of brother, David M. Chapin, in Orange Twp., on August 20, 1911.  When a small 
child she moved with her parents to Michigan.  In 1887 she was united in 
marriage to James Starrs, who died in 1908, but the dread disease, 
consumption, was sapping her life away, and realizing that she had but a few 
years to live, she longed to spend them with her brothers, so she came to 
Michigan about three weeks ago, only to remain a short time.  She leaves to 
mourn her death, six brothers, Addison S. of South Dakota, David and Sidney of 
Orange, Allen of Grand Rapids, Charles of Chicago, and Clarence of South 
Dakota.  The funeral services were held at the LeValley church, Rev. A. E. 
North officiating, and the remains were taken to Howard City and there laid to 
rest beside those of her mother.
